Forest County Health officials have confirmed one person has died of complications surrounding novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Forest County. This death is the first in Forest County associated with COVID-19.
“We are extremely saddened by this loss,” said Jacee Shepard, Health Officer of the Forest County Health Department. “Our deepest condolences go out to their family, friends, and loved ones.”
To date, thirteen people in Forest County and people across the state of Wisconsin have been diagnosed with COVID-19. There have been deaths in Wisconsin.
Health Officials expect the number of confirmed cases to continue to rise in the coming weeks. Expanded testing and contact tracing efforts are being put into place both locally and statewide in an effort to slow and prevent the spread of disease.
The Forest County Health Department continues to encourage community members to minimize their contact with others by staying home when possible, practice physical distancing, and stay alert for symptoms of COVID-19.
